Casting & Fishing Course Dates at Friars Carse, Scotland
 

February 26th to 28th

Arrive for group dinner on the 25th then instruction/guiding & fishing on 26th to 28th before packing up late afternoon & heading for home. Cost £785pp inclusive of 3 Nights DB&B.

March 18th to 20th

Arrive for group dinner on the 17th then instruction/guiding & fishing on 18th to 20th before packing up late afternoon & heading for home. Cost £835pp inclusive of 3 Nights DB&B.

April 15th to 17th

Arrive for group dinner on the 14th then instruction/guiding & fishing on 15th to 17th then head for home late afternoon on the 17th. Cost £865pp inclusive of 3 Nights DB&B.

July 8th to 10th

Arrive for Group dinner on the 7th then instruction/guiding/fishing on the 8th to 10th, pack up late afternoon & head for home. Cost £985pp inclusive of 3 Nights DB&B.

September 9th to 11th

Arrive for group dinner on the 8th then instruction/guiding/fishing on the 9th to 11th then after lunch its time to pack things up & head for home. Cost £965pp inclusive of 3 Nights DB&B.

November 11th to 13th

Arrive for group dinner on the 10th then instruction/guiding/fishing on the 11th to 13th before it’s time to head home in the afternoon. Cost £925pp inclusive of 3 Nights DB&B (accompanied non fishers sharing a room £295pp)

 

Please Note:

 

  • A minimum of 3 anglers are required for each course to proceed.

  • In the event the river is unfishable a local Stillwater will be used.

  • A non refundable deposit of £150 is required to reserve your place. (this is refundable if not enough people on the course)

  • It is recommended that you have holiday insurance in place just in case

Fly Fishing course overview

Here's a general outline of the 3 days. Sessions may vary to cater for everyone's ability. Day of arrival at the Hotel meet your hosts & fellow anglers. Walk of the beat. Set up of equipment ready for next days action. Course days Update on the river conditions. Learn or recap any of the casts that you that you may need for the days ahead. Maybe learn some new techniques.
Discuss fly selection and where you are likely to find the fish. Break for lunch. Back to the casting practice or out on the river. Group evening meal, Fly trying - have a go.

Your Instructors

 

 

 

 

 

 

Ian is a qualified Advanced Professional Game Angling Instructor in Single Handed techniques (trout/grayling/sea trout) and holds a Game Angling Instructors Certificate in Double Handed (salmon) techniques, he will be on hand to teach you the use of single & double handed rods along with more advanced techniques for the more experienced angler.

 

Ian is one of Orvis Endorsed UK Guide & has been fishing the beat for over 10 years.

 

Pat is a qualified Advanced Professional Game Angling Instructor in Single Handed techniques (trout/grayling/sea trout) and likes fishing ‘tight line’ methods. He holds a Game Angling Instructors Certificate in Fly Dressing.

Ian is one of the Orvis Endorsed UK Guides & some of their equipment will be used throughout the course.

 

If you already have your own please bring it along. You will also need to bring the following:

 

Waders / wellingtons, cap, sunglasses and wet weather clothing.

Fly tying instruction

After a day on the river why not try your hand at fly tying, under the expert guidance of Pat Stevens.

Tie up something to try out on the fish the next day.
